Frequently Asked Questions

  • For over two decades, I have specialized in retirement planning. I've gone through the retirement process hundreds of times with clients, seeing what works and what doesn't. It's very gratifying to help clients make the right decisions with everything from healthcare, to taxes, investments, Social Security, housing , insurance, and so much more. And it's critically important to know that none of these decisions are made in isolation. Rather, they're inextricably woven together, and it's the coordination of these moving parts that is both thet most challenging and the most rewarding.

My hands-on experience has been reinforced with a passion for learning that continues today. I've earned the following professional designations that reflect my commitment to retirement planning excellence: Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®) Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) Enrolled Agent (EA) Each of these credentials represents a piece of the intricate retirement planning puzzle, equipping me with specialized knowledge to navigate the multifaceted nature of retirement decisions.

  • You have unlimited phone, email and Zoom support to ask questions or get advice on anything that comes up on your end. We also establish a meeting schedule (generally twice per year) to your preference, to have a formal check in on your plan and make any adjustments to help keep it on track.

  • Absolutely! We adhere to the same, prudent, financial principles that we recommend to our clients. We utliize the same investment manager for our personal portfolios as we do for yours. We carefully manage risks to our goals with the same philosophy, and often with the same insurance companies, that we would recommend for our clients. At the end of the day, we want for the same thing for you that we want for ourselves. To live a balanced and well-planned financial life. Enjoying the fruits of our labor today, while preparing for a secure future.

  • The first thing to note is that your accounts and plan would continue as is. We are members of a branch within Cambridge Investment Research, known as the TAG Network. Through TAG, we would provide for a seamless transition to a well-qualified replacement planner.

  • Once we have held our Discovery Meeting, we provide you a proposal for services for your review and signature. That proposal includes a flat fee for our planning work. That fee varies, depending on the complexity of the work involved, but typically runs between $5000 - $10,000 per year.

For the majority of our relationships, we manage your portfolio within the context of your financial plan. In those cases, we waive all flat planning fees. See our "Advisory services fees" page. Within your financial plan, we may recommend one or more insurance solutions. In those cases, an insurance company may pay us a commission. In all cases, you'll always understand how we're compensated for any advice or services we provide.

It's all part of building a trust-based relationship where you feel confident and informed every step of the way.

  • Yes, in fact the majority of our clients are not local to our physical firm. We use technology to meet with, and plan for, clients in many states across the country.
